LDN-BRGZ-INNSBR-MUNICH-LDN

Peter Zumthor's Kunsthaus at the occassion of his retrospective in 2007. By the lake in Bregenz, it was a 1N1D pit-stop that proved to be one of the most refreshing and inspiring cultural eye-opener for M and me. It might not seem to be the likeliest of places to describe as a cultural centre but for me, it still provides a cultural heartbeat that is steady and life enhancing in a way that Paris is not.

Biggest thank you to Carolin and Ludwig who not only suggested the itinerary and alerted me to this exhibition at KUB but also invited me to celebrate C's birthday with her at her family home in Munich. My second stay and lovelier each time. Thank you Herr and Frau Hinne!

Anthony McCall's Solid Light Series

I was at the Serpentine Gallery to see Anthony McCall's Solid Light installation in which he describes cones of light that take on an incredible solidity and highly interactive space defining surface using lines. It was rather magical being bathed in darkness and engulfed in beautiful swirls of smoke dancing on the swooping surfaces of light. Amazing how the botanist Robert Brown's version of motion can be described in such alternatively beautiful works of 'durational structure'. With the lines, ellipses and arcs of light we experience the space defined by this cones of 'solid light' expand and contract. With the haze filled dark room, these solid cones of light continuously change on their surface as the patterns dance to their own music.
